The Shia Pandit from Mumbai

This was shot by my relative Guddu in Lucknow at Kazmain , on Athvi  the last segment of Moharam a few years back..

Yes I am an Indian  Shia Muslim  , I shoot all religiosities , at my Flickr photostream, I have 28800 pictures that you have to log in to see it.

I shoot Moharam , the Rafaees body piercing Sufi mendicants , I am very close to the Naga Sadhus my guru being Shri Vijay Giri Maharaj of Junagadh Akhada.

I shoot the Tamil  cheek and back piercing Thaipussam like rituals dedicated to Goddess Maryamma.

I am also indebted to Peersaab Fakhru Miya of Hujra No 6 Ajmer Sharif..who taught me much..who showed me an enchanted world of Mysticism of Char Yar and Moti Katra..Taragadh – the graves of the Holy Hijda Saint and his biological son buried close to him at Chahme Nur.

My Hijra Guru is Laxmi Narayan Tripathi..we have been friends since 12 years.

The Roman Catholic Church is where I discovered God through the spectral light that came through the

stained window panes at Holy Name Cathedral Wode House Road.This was the essence that became the soul of my photography.

I was studying at Holy Name High School.

I find God is the closest in the mind space of a photographer – he leads we follow.

Brandon Stone of Photo Blogs Org baptised me as a photo blogger ..Biz Stone too..

The Hijras is the special item on my pictorial menu..I am happy I meet them even on Ashura too, with blood over my face , having split my head wide open with a sabre..they cross my path , even on Ramzan or Bakra Idd, or even when I travel they find me in the train compartment , they kiss my hands and feet..

They consider me a holy man .. the hijdas are holistic healing to the wretched unsatisfied gender ridden human soul..

My last wish before I pass away from this planet is to once shoot the Koovagam Eunuch festival in Villupuram Tamil Nadu.

I wish I have Dr Glenn Losack MD  as company a more brilliant and ace photographer in all respects..

The person who now guides me , I am crying as I write this is my grand daughter Marziya Shakir 6 months old , who hits the buttons on my Nikon D 80 like a professional..

She is lucky for me and for her Jewish American godfather Dr Glenn Losack MD..

Yes she awaits her chanukah present that is nothing but the safe hands of this white American New Yorker , now a family friend.
