The Indian Hijda at Ajmer
July 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Well groomed, confident, she is ready to take on the world.
Her face suffused with a spiritual bliss , this is the powerful healing magic of Ajmer.
For the Hijdas year after year each visit is rebirth.
Such is Faith that truly moves mountains.
I was in Ajmer for a night and the following day , I left in the evening, I was ate for the main days of the Urus.
One of them being Chatti.
Had I come earlier I could have a database of at least 25000 or more Hijda pictures.
I try never to miss an opportunity of shooting Hijdas.
One of my favorite subjects .
The pictures of Hijdas are pictures of the resilience of the third gender ethnicity.
I shoot into the heart of the Hijda.
I try to show you the trials and tribulations of the survival of the Indian transgender.
I shoot simple Hijda pictures that even the Hijdas will read positively, when they see them on my websites.
As the Hijdas specially from the rural areas or from the red light area have problem accessing my Flickr photostream, I diverted my pictures to my Word Press Hijda Eunuch Blogs.
As I have work responsibilities I do not have the freedom to run out of Mumbai, to go and shoot them in different parts of India.
But I do have a carte blanche to shoot them among the gharanas or Hijda households I know and who know me too.
My uploading problems at Flickr continue…
I have to post pictures through a batch of 6 via the Flickr basic uploader.
This is a fricking pain in my restless ass.
This picture was shot at the gemstone market at Char Yar.
Because of the way I dress I get a different Hijda expressions.
Heena Hijda called me from a cyber cafe she wanted to see my pictures shot of her at Ajmer.
The new ones I shot of her at the Peela House red light area of the Mumbai Cages are lying unposted ..
