Hijdas at Kalyan Station

These are Hijdas who have paid homage to the Saints Dargah at Haji Malang and are on their way home.
Haji Malang is a Hijda paradise, every Hijda worth his salt will come to be one at Haji Malang.
After Ajmer this is the most inspiring destination for the Hijdas.
They hire out most of the rooms, living together in cramped conditions, dancing away to the beat of the drums..
Hijda soul is at ease and at Peace at Haji Malang.

Hijda Devdasi

They were two of them I spotted at Bandra Bazar Road, I requested her for her picture the other one refused point blank, I gave both of them money..
They are Hijda devdasis they had come to Mumbai for some spiritual work, and were begging too..
I am destined to meet Hijdas and eunuchs on the crossroads of my Life..
I took a few shots but I was in a hurry and they were in a hurry too..

The Devadasi Hijdas

It may sound strange even uncanny , that last year while I was shooting the Idd Namaz at Bandra Station I encounrered Hijdas right in the path of my shooting, despite te amazement of the people around sitting at prayers I began shooting their pictures.
Similarly while shooting the Ashura procession heading to Rehmatabad Shia cemetery I found this lot of Devadasi Hijdas in front of me, I immediately shot 4 frames keeping the solemnity of Moharam.
The scourgers and matamdars were left in confusion of my impulsive pictorial attitude..
These are Hijdas attached to the Devadasi order.
I did not talk to them, and they willingly allowed me to shoot and left more hurriedly than they had come in my picture frame.
My American photographer friend Dr Glenn Losack MD calls this pictorial abberation of shooting Hijdas an obsession , but I disagree with him, I am not obsessed with Hijdas , but yes they are linked to my Karmic path, they encounter me in strange places and strangely I always have my camera at hand..
This is my tale of Hijdas, whose life I extend on the Internet..
I dont intentionally go out to shoot Hijdas , but yes God gifts them to me..
Iwant you to see their world of gender dichotomy.. and the mocking travesty of their fate
